Singing Seal Shaman MaskView more work by Jerome Saclamana
Saclamana often splits his masks with a baleen strip, placing an animal on one side and a face with human features on the other. This combination shows the union of the human and animals spirits. The ptarmigan feathers on the mouths reflect the shamanistic belief that the mouth was a supernatural portal.
