Underwater Ivory Walrus View more work by Andrew Rookok
In this particularly stunning piece by Rookok, the walrus is carved from blue or "underwater ivory." Long years spent underwater has colored parts of the ivory a rich blue color. The speckled area on the walrus' back is the core of the tusk.
