Bola Hunter in IvoryView more work by Stanley Seeganna
A signature piece by Seeganna. The hunter is getting ready to throw a bola, a traditional weapon for hunting birds where weights would be tied to the end of sinew ropes then spun overhead and hurled at the bird(s) in an effort to tangle and ground them. In this piece the hunter, bird and weights are carved ivory. The bird is suspended by a baleen rod and the base is polished caribou antler.
